Ysabel Barnett Elementary is home to an expansive campus garden, one of only three in the district.

The garden provides students with hands-on learning opportunities, fostering deep appreciation for the natural world and a safe space to grow, inspire, and learn without the pressure of traditional metrics.

It boasts mature fruit trees, dozens of garden beds full of seasonal fruits, vegetables and flowers, and during the annual Harvest Festival, transforms into the Haunted Garden – a crowd favorite immersive experience.

In 2025, the BES Garden was designated as a Green Ribbon School - Gold by the California Department of Education for demonstrating exemplary achievement in three key areas: resource efficiency, health and wellness, and environmental and sustainability education.
